HISTORY
THE COLLECTION
The collection of the Ethnological and Folklore Museum of Chrisso is the result of the constant and persistent efforts during the last fifty years of the collector Mr. Ilias Daradimos and still continues to be enriched with valuable, interesting and rare objects of folk cultural heritage.
When the size of the collection reached a point that it could be shared with the public, the collector donated it to the Municipality of Delphi in order to be housed and exhibited permanently in the old school of Chrisso, a building of great historical importance.
2007-Delphi Hall
The beginnings of the Museum go back to 2007, when an exhibition-precursor was organized on the ground floor of the Municipality Hall at Delphi, lasting until the completion of the Chrisso museum building’s renovation. The Municipality of Delphi supported this vision as well as a team of volunteers, full of passion and professionalism, coming from both the Chrisso village and Athens.
2015-The Museum
The Museum opened its doors in 2015, and in 2017 was awarded an honorable distinction by the Greek Ministry of Culture. Since 2019, the museum is administratively part of the “Delphi Network”, a Non-profit Organization created by the Municipalities of Delphi, Dorida, and the Regional Unit of Fokida, aiming at the development of culture and tourism in the region by focusing on the cultural tourism and the support of science, arts and literature.
