\n\t\t\t\tThe core of this collection is a series of about 200 Greek traditional costumes which date from the pre-revolutionary, revolutionary, reign of king Otto, until almost 1920, when they were gradually out of use due to the prevalence of European fashion in Greece.
\nThese costumes are considered unique in variety, quality and use of stitching, colour schemes and originality of designs. Apart from the region of Fokida, the collection includes traditional costumes from throughout Greece, so that the visitor has the opportunity to study and identify similarities and differences.
\nThe oldest costume of the collection is the cavadi (a type of thin coat), a beautiful red embroidered dress, influenced by a similar one worn in the East, dated circa 1780s, with a matching kalpak (hat). It was worn by the noble ladies of the time in Athens, as well as in other big cities, such as Ioannina, even Constantinople.
